Kristé Goes Target Shooting:
Be Careful What You Eat! She Can Take Out A Twinkie At 600 Yards!
Kristé joins members of the Machias Police Department for some leisurely target shooting. She spent a few hours firing police service weapons, primarily Glock .45's, and, of course, there was the Remington 220 Swift sniper rifle she couldn't wait to fire. It's not often you see a marksman take a shot at 300 yards wearing a tiny white skirt and a scrunchy! Only our own Kristé Bouvier could pull that one off!
Kristé’s Sister at the Tour de France…Kind of…
This year at the 2009 Tour de France there was a new feature that was pretty intriguing. They put into action a machine that works like the machine that paints lines on roads and highways. The difference is, this machine uses chalk instead of paint! Alicia Staley, founder of The Staley Foundation, took the time to arrange a little surprise at The Tour de France for Kristé beloved sister, Dr. Kellie Sprague! Alicia's letter says it all:

Hi there!

Dr. Sprague is my doc — she's been my oncologist since 1994/1995.
I knew she was a big cycling fan, so I thought I'd have that message posted for her. My friend Rob works for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, he helped me submit the messages. Please go ahead and post the pic on your web site — and you certainly have my permission to use my name and a link back to my site. No problem.

At some point this week, my blog team will be posting a series of articles on the bike ride for Tufts that's on Sept 12 — I'll be sure to include a post for Dr. S as well!

I will check out your site and the interviews. It looks really cool.

Thanks for reaching out. Your sister is phenomenal!

Senator Mills Goes 'Heels Over Head' For Kristé
Maine State Senator and gubernatorial hopeful, Peter Mills had been chatting with Kristé about the benefits of health and wellness at a gathering held at the home of TDHNTS’s good friend, Dr. Ben Newman and his wife, Sharon. In the middle of the conversation, the Senator decided to punctuate the topic by exhibiting his own physical condition by performing a little yoga for the talk show host and everyone else in attendance. Senator Mills will be a guest on TDHNTS in the very near future.

Kristé's Former Student Worker Shines
My friend and former student worker, Howard Gray is a Sport Science/Strength & Conditioning Consultant, and PhD student in Sport Physiology and Performance at East Tennessee State University. I always knew he would be successful in his field. I first noticed Howard when I was the Fitness & Wellness Coordinator at University of Maine at Machias as well as the lead Fitness Therapist. Watching Howard in the fitness room, on the soccer field and all points in between, I was taken with his commitment to conditioning while maintaining an impressive academic score. He always showed a true ability to be personal and professional to people of all ages. I asked Howard if he would like to use his work study hours learning how to become, and then work as a personal trainer and conditioning coach. Howard was more than grateful for the opportunity. My hunch was right on. Howard turned out to be my favorite student trainer and after moving on from UMM, has continued to soar in his profession. I recommend everyone take a look at his blogs by clicking on the photos below. I'm very proud of you, Howard!
